Satyagraha Week 2 BoxOffice Collection

Satyagraha Week 2 BoxOffice Collection

Via Indicine
Satyagraha has crashed on its second Friday at the box office. The film fell by nearly 64% as it lost out on screens to new releases like Shuddh Desi Romance and Zanjeer.
Satyagraha is likely to collect around 8-9 crores in its second week to take its total to 64-64 crore. The film should finish its theatrical run with lifetime collections of less than 70 crores, which is much lower than the 93 crore figure of Raajneeti.
Satyagraha 1st Week Collections
  • Friday – 11.21 crore
  • Saturday – 13.08 crore (17% growth)
  • Sunday – 14.83 crore (13% growth)
  • Monday – 5.07 crore (66% drop)
  • Tuesday – 4.11 crore (19% drop)
  • Wednesday – 3.62 crore (12% drop)
  • Thursday – 3.51 crore (0.04% drop)
  • First Week Total – 55.43 crore
Satyagraha 2nd Week Collections
  • 2nd Friday – 1.28 crore (64% drop)
  • Total Collections in 8 days – 56.71 crore

Shudh Desi Romance First Day Boxoffice Collection

Shudh Desi Romance First Day Boxoffice Collection

Shudh Desi Romance did well on day one collecting around 6-6.25 crore nett. The film did very well in Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan while other areas were lower comparatively when compared with these circuits but still good overall.

The opening day number is a very good number for such a film which has a medium budget and a cast which does not have much face value.  The film has mainly a multiplex release with around 1100 screens in total.

Shudh Desi Romance will show Saturday growth though remains to be seen how much and then come out with a healthy weekend which is sure to go over 20 crore nett.

Zanjeer First Day Business

 Zanjeer First Day Business

Zanjeer did poorly on day one as it collected around 3 crore nett on day one not including the business from its Telugu version Thoofan.

The film was dull all over with collections in Delhi and Punjab being just awful. Maharashtra fared best for the film but was still very low.

The Hindi version of the film has no chance and is a disaster as it can't go anywhere from such a low starting point. It will be up to its Telugu version Thoofan to give it the makers some returns though considering how bad the Hindi version it will be a surprise if the Telugu version sustains in long run.

A few interesting points
  • Shahrukh is second only to Rajesh Khanna when it comes to back-to-back hits. He currently has 10 and could eventually beat Khanna’s 15 consecutive hits record.
  • At the time of this writing, SRK also has almost all the box office records under his name – Highest grosser in India, Highest worldwide grosser, Highest Opening Day / Weekend / Week – just to name a few.
  • In every overseas market, Shahrukh is by far the biggest superstar. Some of his older films like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna are still in the Top 10.
  • Not a single Shahrukh Khan film has ever been declared as a box office disaster!
  • The total business generated by his films in India is Rs 1642.52 crore, only behind Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Satyagraha Tuesday Boxoffice Collection

Satyagraha Drops Further On Tuesday

Satyagraha dropped further on Tuesday as it collected around 3.50-3.75 crore nett. A 10-15% drop is normal for Tuesday but with a low Monday, Satyagraha had to hold much better to have any chance at the box office.

The collections for five days are 42 crore nett with the week is looking at a close of 48 crore nett. The weekday trend suggest a difficult ride for the film after week one and a likely finish of around 60 crore nett which would be the same as One Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara! released two weeks back.

The film will record better collections in North and Central markets  but still well short of what a big film should do. In Maharashtra, East and South the film has fared poorly.
